 Jack Johnson, born John Arthur Johnson (March 31, 1878, Galveston, Texas, USA - June 10, 1946, Raleigh, North Carolina), American boxer, and the first African American to become a heavyweight champion. Many boxing observers consider him one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.



Ohnson fought as a professional from 1897 to 1928 and only took part in exhibition fights in 1945. He won the title by defeating champion Tommy Burns in Sydney on December 26, 1908, and lost it to Jess Willard on April 5 in Havana by knockout in 26 rounds. , 1915. Burns and racial discrimination limited Johnson's opportunities and budget. When he became champion, the riots and riots in favor of the "Great White Hope" spawned many opponents.
