Jonathan Dwight Jones (born July 19, 1) is an American mixed martial artist who currently competes in the UFC, where he is the UFC Heavyweight Champion. He is a former two-time UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, holding the title from March 2011 to April 2015 and December 2018 to August 2020. Jones was also the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion in 2016. Due to his many accomplishments, high level of competition and undeniable dominance as a fighter Jon Jones is widely considered the greatest mixed martial artist in history, a view also supported by UFC President Dana White. As of March 7, 2023, he is in first place in the UFC ranking of the best fighters of all weight categories.

Jones became the youngest champion in UFC history by defeating Mauricio Roa at the age of 23. He holds several UFC light heavyweight records, including most title defenses, most wins, longest hitting streak, and most serve wins. For most of his career in the UFC, Jones was widely considered the best fighter in the world. Jones' only loss was the controversial suspension of Matt Hamill. After that match, a feud developed between Hamill and UFC President Dana White.

Between 2015 and 2017, Jones was involved in numerous controversies and was stripped of his title three times due to disciplinary action. In 2015, he was stripped of his title for the first time and disqualified from the official ranks by the UFC after he was arrested on a hit-and-run charge. Upon his subsequent return to the UFC in 2016 and 2017, he won title fights against Ovens Sainte-Bruis and Daniel Cormier, but due to Jones testing positive for banned substances and further suspensions, the final rematch of the game ended: he didn't win. After the suspension was lifted in 2017, Jones regained his title in 2018 by defeating Alexander Gustafsson. He voluntarily relinquished the title in 2020 after a salary dispute with Dana White and announced his intention to move up to heavyweight.







Early lifeJones was born on the 19th of July 1st in Rochester, New York. His father, Arthur, is the pastor of the Church of God on Mount Sinai in Binghamton, New York. Arthur discouraged John from pursuing a military career: "I wanted him to preach. I tried to stop him from being a warrior. I told him you didn't want to do that. You could do other things. Be a pastor." John's mother, Camille, died in 2017 at the age of 55, after a long struggle with diabetes.John was one of four children.His older brother, Arthur, is a former NFL linebacker who played for the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins, while his younger brother, Chandler, is a linebacker An outfielder for the Arizona Cardinals. His older sister, Carmen, died of a brain tumor before she was eighteen.







His Career Is Mixed Martial ArtsBeginning CareerPrior to his MMA career,

 Jones was a standout fighter and state champion at Union-Endicott High School in upstate New York. He also played defensive football. Because of his slender body, his coach gave him the nickname "Bones". He won the GUCO National Championship at Iowa Central Community College. After transferring to Morrisville State College to study criminal justice, he dropped out to pursue a career in mixed martial arts.Jones made his professional mixed martial arts debut in April 2008. Within three months, he had built an unbeaten 6-0 record and knocked out opponents. In his final fight before his contract with the UFC, Jones defeated Moises Gabin at Battle Cage Extreme 5 for the USKBA Light Heavyweight Championship. He won the fight by knockout in the second round.

Kebevi made his debut and progressed to contending for the Light Heavyweight Champion back and forth. Jones was scheduled to defend his title against Anthony Johnson on May 23, 2015 at UFC 187. However, on April 28, Jones was stripped of his belt and suspended indefinitely by the UFC. After a car accident in which he runs over a pregnant woman, he then flees the scene on foot. Cormier, who lost to Jones at UFC 182 in January 2015, replaced him and defeated Anthony Johnson to win the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. A rematch with Cormier was scheduled for April 23, 2016 at UFC 197. However, Cormier retired from the fight on April 1 due to a foot injury and was replaced by Oven's Saint-Pruis. Third and back
Against Daniel Cormier on July 29, 2017 at UFC 214 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Jones won the fight and regained the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship with a third-round knockout after a headbutt and a series of punches to the floor. After the fight, Jones was awarded the Performance of the Night bonus. After the fight, Jones praised Cormier as an "exemplary champion" while acknowledging his personal flaws. Jones then challenged Brock Lesnar to a match.

In the first defense of his second championship title, Jones faced Anthony Smith on March 2, 2019 in the main event of UFC 235.
